Over the last 6 months Education Choice Training researched the Healthcare Sector in Ireland. The level of service required by patients has increased as well as media scrutiny and a changing demographic in Ireland.

The treatment of the Elderly is also seen as a measure of how a society is judged. Patients need to be treated absolute respect and confidentiality is a key issue in their treatment. Their security and safety is also a priority. The Healthcare assistant’s main role is to assist and support nurses and midwives.

If this sector is to continue to improve all staff need to be trained to a high standard and also must improve their own knowledge base and skills. At the centre of this are the tasks that the Healthcare worker must complete in a competent manner to a required standard.

This sector is developing rapidly with good career opportunities for those who are willing to acquire the required skills. Standards are being assessed across the sector and good staff with excellent training should have the opportunity to progress within the sector.
